I Deleted Your Comment lalala

Recently, I have been getting some nasty comments. I have no qualms deleting them thanks to the practice I received deleting spam comments with eyes closed.

I know that there are spammers who would come and check if their spam comment has been published, since I moderate all comments, well too bad their comment will never see the light of day. I trash them all.

I salute those who take the time to spam, come and check, see that their comment has yet to be published, and come and spam again with the same message. That shows how much faith they have in technology, thinking that their comment did not come through. Haha! No apologies given, though!

Pump Up Your Feed Count

Lately, every one’s been talking how bloggers have pumped up their feed count by using fake widgets. Well, if your livelihood depends on the performance of your blog(s), surely there would be exploitation. I personally have experienced how some advertisers care about the number of feed readers we have and the higher the number, the higher they will pay us to spread the news about their products or services. Of course, in an ideal world, feed count would be a good gauge on the reach of our blog(s) but then since when is the world perfect?

So I know that there are some people who set up over a hundred email accounts EACH and subscribe to each others’ feed. Sigh… what trouble just to earn the extra money.

I am of the opinion that it is not wrong to make money off our blogs but not to the point of cheating. And pumping up our feed count cosmetically would constitute as cheating; cheating ourselves, cheating our readers and ultimately, cheating our advertisers. And that is totally WRONG!

EntreBar – EntreCard Toolbar

A few days ago, I received three email updates from EntreCard about the launch of their EntreBar. Yes, I always will receive three emails from them unless I unsubscribe but I haven’t found the time to do it even if it is just a click away.

Anyway, there are people who found EntreCard useful and there are people who found EntreCard does not do anything for their blogs. As for me, I have no opinion. EntreCard gives me one or two random readers who come over to drop their cards.

I actually wanted to grab an image of their toolbar from the EntreCard blog but foing to the blog is awful. It totally lags that it hangs my browser and if you use tabbed browsing, I am sure you know what an awful experience it is. Besides, the blog does not have fluid width, so that explains why I hardly read the EntreCard blog.

Anyway, no, I am not going to use the EntreCard since it is a FireFox extension and FireFox is not my primary browser. I cannot understand why people love toolbars. It takes up space of your browser, don’t you think so? The only toolbars I sometimes use are the Google toolbar to check my pagerank when there is an update and the Web Development toolbar to check all my blogs and sites occasionally. I hide these toolbars when not in use. Otherwise, I only have the Navigation toolbar.

Technorati’s 2008 State of the Blogosphere Survey

Did you receive an invitation to participate in Technorati’s Blogsposhere Survey? Well, I received the invitation a couple of days ago and yes, I contributed what I could in the survey. It’s kind of difficult for me to answer the questions as I have twenty blogs. I know that I am supposed to have a primary blog but which is my primary blog? I have too many, like my friend says.

If you are interested to participate in this survey then here is the link: http://v2.decipherinc.com/survey/mmc/mmc08001

I don’t know how long it took me to complete the survey but it is rather lengthy. I was told that it would take 15 – 20 minutes, though. I think I took longer than that. Don’t surveys always give you a shorter time than it would take to complete it just so that you won’t be scared off from doing it?

Anyway, what I do not like about the survey is that it looks like answers are submitted to Technorati as an when I was answering the survey questions. It did not look like I had an option to go back and change my replies. Oh well, I have already submitted it and hope to see the blogging trend in September, when Technorati says that the results of the survey will be out.

Your Blogs Wont Run Away

It’s funny that when I was new to blogging and had only one blog, I was a little worried each time I did not get to update it. I felt like people were expecting my new posts. But no matter how sometimes I wish that I could public a couple of new posts a day, life could get in the way.

Then I started more and more blogs and frankly, I am immune to the feeling of guilt when I do not have the time or mood to update them. I came to realize that even if we do not update it for months or in some cases, one year, the blog will still be there. It will not erupt and self destruct or whatever, as long as we keep the domain name and hosting alive. LOL

So yes, if you feel like you are “chained” to blogging, perhaps it is time to get a breather and stay away from your blog(s) for a little while. I know I do that a lot of the time. Try it and see if you will feel more refreshed when you start to blog again.

Expand Your Options

Finding it difficult to make some pocket money from blog reviews? Then you probably need to expand your options. If you have read about my post on iHype.com a couple of months back, then you should be glad to know of iHype.com Launch.

I am registered with them and have two approved blogs but so far, have not made any money through them. However, I still let a couple of friends know about iHype.com and they signed up too.

Recently, iHype.com received from negative hype in the blogosphere, for what reason I do not know. My main concern is that they hand out work to us and pay us accordingly. Things are pretty quiet in there right now and strangely, their link redirects us to the website of an energy drink.

Anyway, since I never believe in putting all my eggs in one basket, a new blog review marketplace is always welcomed. While things may be slow right now and though I am unable to reach them via their contact form, I trust that things will soon pick up once they are over their teething problems. Most startup companies will go through the same.

So when business picks up, my friends and I will be ready to work with iHype.com!

Blog Your Way To Vegas

PicApp is giving one lucky winner an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas for Blog World Expo. OK, when is Blog World Expo, you will need to check it up yourself. The thing you need to do is to embed PicApp images in your blogs, maximum two images per post, and the person with the highest number of PicApp images used will win.

I think this is a great marathon contest, except that they need to be transparent and add a little tally widget on their site. I would love to join as well, god knows I have so many blogs that require images, but then I hate the little box at the bottom of the image AND I can’t get away on long international trips for the time being so I am letting this contest go. Yes, contest freak me.

Who is joining? Will you let go this free trip to Las Vegas?
