How Many Dead Blogs?

Sometime last year, a friend started a slew of blogs, diligently blogging on them all almost daily. This year, though, he has been busy with work and has left all his blogs idle except for one.

Personally, I also started a few passion blogs last year before I started to blog for pay. However, since then, I have been so busy blogging for pay that I do not have time to blog for passion anymore. I wouldn’t say that my passion blogs are dead but they are dormant for now. If one day all these paid blogging ends, I would be going back to them.

However, I wonder, how many dead blogs are there? Maybe the blog is dead because the blogger has lost interest or moved to a own hosted domain, or perhaps the blogger himself is really dead.

I once read that there are X number of blogs created every second, myself a contributor as well, but how many people can actually upkeep them one year or two years from setting it up?

Adoih! Blogs Reader

Argh.. I know I am definitely out of touch with the local blogosphere. I just came to know of a local Blogs Reader called Adoih! Blogs Reader because a reader came to my blog from there. I do not know how my blog ended up listed there. For one, I am happy that I have more readers thanks to Adoih! On the other hand, I feel kind of bad that my posts are even fed to Adoih! because RSS readers cannot separate regular posts from sponsored posts.

While I try to link my sponsored posts as closely to the theme of my blog, I am not always that lucky. While I do have lots of things to share with my readers in my regular postings and as well as in sponsored posts, I feel bad that my postings, sometimes publishing over ten posts in a day, have wholesale gone live on the Reader.

I do realize that not everyone likes to visit blogs that have too many sponsored posts. However, I make no denial that I need the money. So thank you to whoever added my blog to Adoih! If the administrators receive too many complaints, then please do the right thing by removing my blog from your Reader.

Host Your Own Blog

I have a friend who blogs on a not-so-popular free blog service, which I shall not name. The server is so slow that not only is it difficult to access to read, he told me that it is also the same trying to write and publish post. There were times that he lost his posts due to one reason or another.

So I advised him to host his own blog. However, a few months passed and he told me that he has moved his blog to Blogger.

Well, I guess he did not listen to my advice. I have told hm that since he is starting from scratch, he might as well get his own domain, right? But no, he told me that he is using Blogger because he has no money to host his own.

If he had looked hard enough, there are low-cost hosting packages that will not burn a whole in his pocket. He told me that he needs a large hosting space to keep videos. Who asked him to keep videos? Shouldn’t he live within his means?

Surprisingly, he graduated from web designing from a foreign university and yet he claims that he does not know how to set up his own blog. Well, I do not know either and have complained much but I still managed to get the blog to the way I like it to be.

It’s disappointing that he is taking the easy way out by blogging on a free platform. I have been there and done that and if I started to blog now, I would definitely start with my own hosted blog.

Send Your Blog To Space

Sometime back, I came across this website which enables you to transmit your blog to space. Can you imagine aliens reading your blog? Well, frankly, I can’t!

It seems that we have been transmitting TV signals to space and now, Blog In Space is taking things one step further. Through Blog In Space, it seems anyone can send a one-time message into space.

I’m technically-challenged so I don’t really know how this works, but if you want to transmit your blog to space, you just have to provide your URL and/or feed URL.

I did not transmit my blogs to space, though. Don’t think aliens would be interested in my thoughts. If you know how it is even possible to transmit blogs to space, let me know!

The Wrong Kinda Comments

I know I haven’t enough comments on my blog, but too bad, I have to delete them all. Most are spam while some are comments left on my sponsored posts with links to other websites or blogs that are offering the same service or product.

If you are one of those people who left me comments like these, I am sorry, I will never approve your comment. So be a good boy and leave me nice comments that are relevant to my posts and not take my readers away to your own blog or website, ok?

If you have been good, then only will I consider giving you some linky Alexa love. Otherwise, please don’t even try. You’ll only be wasting your own time, you know?

One Blog Too Many

How many blogs can a person manage with regular updates and nurturing each blog to a decent Page Rank and popularity?

I know of people with more than a dozen blogs, myself included. Most people only started blogs to cash in on blog sponsorships. In my case, I started the bulk of my blogs way before I found out about blogging for pay.

I currently actively update six blogs everyday, six blogs that are sponsored and I tell you, I don’t even have time to brush my hair. One thing about me is that I like to blog in advance. This way, I would not be pressured to come up with quality posts when I need them as interim posts. My life is so uncertain, I don’t even know what would happen tomorrow so if I can’t find the time to blog one day, I still have back up posts saved as drafts.

I don’t know how some people can manage to upkeep their slew of blogs. Well, I do not bother to read these blogs to find out if their posts are quality posts or junk just to fill up the space and meet marketplaces requirements. One thing I noticed, though, many people get an escape route from writing more than necessary by just publishing a photo and writing a short paragraph explaining the photo.

As for myself, I am upkeeping my six active blogs at the expense of my passion blogs. Sigh, money is very important at this time of my life. If you do not know why, then you should read ** An Anonymous Journal **

Feeling Bad

I maintain so many blogs, giving priority to sponsored blogs that I often neglect my passion blogs. It’s not for lack of ideas that I do not update them, but for lack of time and energy. I wish I was this robotic entity where I can just go on and on, blogging away. Can you imagine me as the pink Energizer bunny?

It is all right if there is no traffic to my blogs, but guilt is enhanced when I see the same visitors coming time and again only to find the same ol’ content.

It is especially bad when there are even people who blogrolled me, thank you very much, only to find yesterday’s news on my blog *sigh*

Some friends asked me why I bothered keeping those blogs when I am so hard-pressed for time. Like I said, I have a passion for them and one day, if paid blogging falls apart, I would still be happily blogging away at my passion blogs.
