Scared To Blog

Well, I am not sure if you know… I publish lots of posts everyday on my various blogs talking about a variety of topics. Since I began hosted my own blogs and since Google’s spiders became so efficient (yes, my friend noticed this as well), my posts are picked up so fast on the internet that staff from these corporations come and read my posts. The scary thing is that they don’t leave a comment at all but will pass the permalink around their office for their colleagues to read and analyse and also forward it to the headquarters.

I actually feel threatened by these silent visits. It is not because I am writing something bad about them or something good n particular, I am just writing based on my knowledge or something that has happened to me. A company may be good but that does not mean that I get to enjoy that experience, right?

And even if I wrote a post in a negative tone I stand by my word because that would be my own experience. But with all these trepidation that happens each time I check my visitor statistics, it is not fun. Definitely NOT.

Come to think of it, if Google is so friendly with my blog posts that they are so easily located even wthout linking to the companies concerned, Google should give me a Page Rank 5 in its next update.

Too DUMB For Virals

AnitoKid, my new online blogging buddy from the Philippines, invited me to play the Viral Link game. To be frank, even before he invited me to participate, I have already seen it on his blog. Unfortunately, I am ashamed to admit that after reading it a couple of times, I still do not know how to play it.

I get dizzy just looking at all the stars and trying to double guess which star already has a link and which doesn’t and then I think that I am required to check Technorati to see which blog is already linked to us and which isn’t and then keep editing my viral tag. Isn’t that too much work?

I am not sure if this will help us in our Technorati Authority since all these stars can’t be web standard but I do know that Technorati won’t be too happy if we try to GAME it this way.

Technorati Authority does not matter much to me anymore after I sent in so many support tickets to get my readings rectified but if Viral Tags can make a difference in Google Page Rank that would be awesome. Somebody please teach me how!

Bad Taste To Announce Earnings

As a blogger who has almost fully monetized her blogs, I find it distasteful that there are SO many bloggers who are announcing their earnings from various internet sources ever so often.

For the past two weeks, I have had the opportunity to visit over a hundred blogs by bloggers who have monetized their blogs. I do not see the need for them to announce how much their have earned or when they have received payment from so-and-so company. It is just plain distasteful. Just like receiving conventional salary, nobody goes around telling the world how large their pay cheque is. People who do this are called “show-offs”. That’s who they are.

I mean, if one wants to encourage or spur readers to monetize their blogs, it is sufficient to state the amount from the different ways of monetization and not the exact amount from each particular company.

This is so prevalent that I sometimes wonder maybe THIS is the way it should be. Maybe it is just me, I don’t know.

Who Says Blogging Is Easy?

Whoever said that is wrong! It may be easy to write one or two posts in a day but try writing multiple posts daily in a long stretch of time and see what happens. A friend of mine, whom I shall not disclose because he is one of the most popular bloggers in Malaysia, was shocked when I told him that I have to write more than ten posts almost daily. He went like this, “How to write? Why last time never hear you complain?”

Well, last time I did not complain because I had so many posts in drafts that I could go without blogging for one or two days and still have plenty of back up posts to publish. And then I was so busy that I did not have time to write anything and just kept publishing my drafts till they were exhausted. Since then, which was three or four weeks ago, I never recovered my momentum.

And now my friend proposes to come to my hometown for a visit and I told him not to because I have too many posts to write daily that I won’t have the time to meet up with him. And he doesn’t understand why!

Blogging is not easy, especially for one who blogs for pay. Besides writing, we need to network, build back links, socialise with other bloggers, link bait and what not. It’s a three person job and I am doing all these alone. So yeah, I don’t even have time to socialise with real people anymore!

BlogBlogs Brazilian Style

I am sure you noticed how hard I have been working on building the network and backlinks of my blogs. While I was searching the internet, I came across BlogBlogs, a blog indexing social networking portal that is the fastest growing in Brazil and Portuguese speaking countries. I have to admit that so far, I have been focusing on English speaking social portals only so I was rather surprised to discover BlogBlogs.

While I do not speak Portuguese at all, I could make out the available features on BlogBlogs. Apart from being a blog indexing site, they are also a searching and ranking website so if you have a Portuguese blog, you don’t want to miss having your blog listed there since they have all the features of Technorati, MyBlogLog, Orkut and MySpace all in one portal.

The bad news is, I would like to join such a website as I believe that it could take my blogs to another level while at the same time making new friends who share the same interest as me, blogging. Unfortunately, like I mentioned, I don’t speak Portuguese.

However, the good news is that BlogBlogs will very soon go global after they have consolidated their position as the number one site in Brazil and increased the social aspects of the portal.

I am eagerly waiting for them to support English! That would be awesome!

Win USD100 From AnitoKid!

Here’s great news! A Filipino blogger who goes by the moniker AnitoKid is giving away US$100 at the end of this year in conjunction with the first anniversary of this blog, The Anitokid Chronikos – Billiards and Philippine sports. November 20, 2007 marks the day he has blogged for one full year already.

I am not sure about you, but when I visit a blog, I like to check out what are one the sidebar. I have discovered many new widgets and stuff from sidebars of blogs. AnitoKid has something that I came across for the first time. Yeah, I know I am slow but being online 24/7 does not mean that I have to know about every single thing that is released online, does it? What this widget that I like the is scrolling list of visitors by city. I think it is way cool. If I have more visitors, I may implement that!

I am surprised to see the Nuffnang ad on AnitoKid’s blog because I thought that Nuffnang is only open to Malaysian and Singaporean bloggers but I guess expats qualify as well!

I first came to know of AnitoKid from Fuel My Blog. If you check out his credentials, I am sure you will be as impressed with him as I am. In any case, no matter if you are a fan of AnitoKid or not, why not try to win USD100 off him? Just write an anniversary review his blog and then let him know of your review by email. This should be done before 12th November, 2007, 11pm Philippine time.

Good luck, to myself too!

Vast Improvement in PPP-ville

The other day when I wrote Six Hours! Too Freaking Long! I thought nobody would read it. But boy, am I wrong. Somebody from Florida searched for keyword PayPerPost on Google Blog Search and chanced upon my blog post.

Not long after, PayPerPost implemented something new. This is what I have been looking forward to since the first day I joined them as a postie.

Now, Opps that are fully reserved will be indicated with a beige shade which was later changed to a grey shade. Therefore, I do not have to keep hitting the “Take This Opportunity” button like I have always done. Some people told me that I would think they are crazy for trying to take an Opp for twenty five times. Well, nobody wants to know how much time I spent on taking an Opp trying to wedge in as soon as a slot is available.

Well, what can I say, I won’t give up till the Opp drops off from my list of available Opps. With this new feature, no longer do I have to waste time trying to take something that is not available in the mean time. I could blog on some other Opps or I could write original interim posts, heck, I could even watch a movie if I wanted to, unlike for the past seven months where my finger never stopped clicking on “Take This Opportunity”.

Phew….. the internet truly has ears. Or should I say “eyes” instead?
