Tit For Tat

When I wrote the post, Domino Effect, little did I realise that it was only the tip of the iceberg. What pisses me off is that because bloggers are trying to save their butt, or maybe they have attained such a “high” rank now that they think that could stand tall by themselves without the little contributions that all of us did by linking up to each other, or that they have forgotten their roots and how they practically wrote in to have a link exchange, they removed their blogroll and that is going to hurt the rest of us.

So, as a tit for tat, I am going to set aside some time to visit everyone on my blogroll and delete those who removed me from their blogroll, keeping those who are still linked to me. I am going to be mean because good girls like me get nowhere anyway.

Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you, not for at least three months anyway, and by then hopefully, you all would have found new people to link to you. What I am disappointed is that I thought that we had a pack and that we are all in this together.

Blogger’s Subscribe To Comments

Did you notice that Blogger now has the option for us to subscribe to comments when we leave a comment on a blog post? Well, it’s about time they added more features to Blogger.

While the option to subscribe to comments is a great addition, I think it is more important to have the ability to have reply comment email and the basic Categories. Tagging is not the same, OK? And what about scheduling posts to publish at a future date? That would be awesome for bloggers like me who will write a few posts in one sitting?

The reason I didn’t even upgrade to the new layout is that it is too rigid and you can’t place stuff where you want them to be but only within widgets.

I know that Blogger is a free platform and all but with a large team backing it, they can do better that what it is now. I actually prefer to use Blogger if only they have all the features of WordPress plug-ins minus the comment spam!

Don’t Blog For 24 Hours? Don’t Kid!

I received a review request for a product but the sponsor requests that I write a review, publish it on my blog and guarantee that it is the first post on the blog for 24 hours. They have to be kidding, right?

To have a post at the top for that long, I would agree if the product to be reviewed is something of more valuable. A pack of consumer products just don’t cut it.

I am surprised that there are some people who jumped at the chance for the “free gift” in exchange for a review post but then perhaps they did not read the fine print. It actually is not a matter of value of the product to be reviewed but to be told when to post and when not to post, it is really suffocating to me.

I don’t understand how people can stay away from blogging for that many hours. I blog even from my mobile hahah!

So Unhappy

So, my friend does not understand what I am so unhappy with because I still have a blog at a respectable Page Rank 3. The problem now is that truly I am locked out of many opportunities and I know my income level will not only be halved but I will be happy even to hit 25% of what I used to derive from blogging. This is the effects of a demotion and no, I don’t think that Google should punish us for putting food on the table for the family.

A week ago, I wrote a post about accepting an opportunity on a wrong blog. And with all my blogs down, I am going to have to decide IF I should post for something knowing that I could have written the post on a more appropriate blog but now I cannot because of my new Rank. This makes me so unhappy because although I write a lot, I try to stick to my niche all the time and now, it is going to be a thousand times harder.

I know that I can write just as well as the next blogger but just because my blog is less established than one that was set up before I “was born”, that makes my blog less valuable. It is depressing that our income will have to depend on the whims and fancies of others. It’s time to go back to the drawing board.

First Crazy Blogging Anniversary

Well, what a crazy year it has been blogging like crazy. There were times when i thought that I would not have anything else to write about but with so many blogs, there just has to be something to write about and wrote I did, one post after another.

I have actually been a blogger for almost two years now. My first ever blog which i started because of a friend, isn’t even two years old yet. In this past year, life has been totally hectic yet it was sometimes exhilarating and sometimes disappointing but it was totally rewarding.

I don’t know how long I can continue to blog at this pace. And I am thoroughly unhappy with the new the new Page Ranks and how we are totally dependent on it to make an extra buck.

What to do? We’ll just have to make the best out of the situation, I guess *deep sigh*

Learning About Web 2.0

I thought I would be reading blogs on Google penalization but I ended up reading about California wild fires on this blog of Jupiter Labs. This is a company that offers SEO services.

Do you think that SEO would help if the page rank was down? One of my blogs went down to a two but I noticed that it ranked first on the search results for a particular keyword. Perhaps that keyword is not one that people optimized. *sigh*

One article on Jupiter Labs blog is really scary. It’s about having our life ruled by Google five years from now. What a crazy thought if someone feels the need to ask Google what his next move shall be.

Feeling Bad :-(

I feel kind of bad that I sometimes have to edit a comment or outright delete it although it is a genuine comment with good input. This is because that it is in direct conflict with the post that I wrote, the company, its product or service

Under normal circumstances I would have let such comments be published even though I know that the commenter was looking for a link back to his/her commercial site and possibly traffic from people who have an interest in this item.

Well, too bad. When somebody has already paid for the real estate on my blog, I am going to make pretty damn sure that all outgoing links within that space points to his website only and not to another party’s site.

So if you are looking for a link to your site, you can do it but do it on my organic posts but then you won’t be getting your target readers, would you? And that won’t be of interest to you!
