Two days ago, my computer crashed and I was offline for about a day. Well, not exactly offline as I still had the use of another computer and mobile device. However, I did not log into my blogs and so my Spam Comments just piled up. It took a few hours for the computer technician to format my computer. Yes, I sent it in even though I could do it myself but I felt that I have better things to do with my time than repair a computer. Anyway, by the end of the day when the computer is once again healthy and restored with all my favourite programmes, I logged into this blog only to be welcomed with over a thousand spam comments.

So, I just clicked on the “DELETE ALL” button without going through the spam like I normally would. I cannot afford half a lifetime sitting here looking for that one or two legitimate comments.

If you have left me comment during this down time, I apologise that I may have deleted your comment. You could, of course, just drop me a message via my Contact box if you would like to contact me.

Sometime back, I wrote a post about an advertiser who wanted a post to stay as the first post for twenty four hours. Of course, those who are using “Sticky” could place that particular post at the top of the blog but then it may cause confusion and misunderstanding so why should one risk it?

Anyway, I thought that was rather drastic of the advertiser to seek extra exposure like that. Little did I know that there would be an advertiser who would want his post as the first post of the blog for TEN full days and all for $10.

I can understand about trying to obtain maximum exposure but there is always a limit and ten days is not it. Can you believe that?

I couldn’t even commit to the 24-hour time frame, let alone ten freaking long days. Besides, it’s not as if he’s paying enough for me not to blog at all and I am not only talking about paid posts here!

If I were to stop blogging for ten whole days, I would have to be paid enough to get a trip out to Las Vegas, Paris or somewhere!

Well, I am sorry, but some links on my sidebar will have to go. After all plummeting Page Rank, where I see many people taking off their sidebars just to save their own ass, I will be doing the same. However, my sidebar blogroll stays only for people who still have my link on their blog. Those who have selfishly removed me from their blogroll even though we have made a pack or agreed on a reciprocal link back will be treated the same.

Actually, I am very disappointed with such people but then, this isn’t the first time already. I tend to think that everyone would stick to their word or something. Now I just need to find time to get down to those blogrolls. I know that it would not make a difference this time round but then revenge is sweet.

Have to be patient!

How much time do you spend fighting spam every day? I think that with four WordPress blogs, I am spending at least THREE hours going through my Spam folder trying to pick up legitimate comments from there. I have tried to De-Spam the same people over and over again and yet the same problem occurs. I think it has something to do with Akismet or WordPress loophole.

Sometimes I get so angry with the wasted time that I just want to click DELETE ALL without checking the eleven pages of spam but then I would feel bad if my comment received a similar treatment. I don’t want any misunderstanding.

But sometimes I think that I should just close comments!

I know I have written a few posts on spam comment and if you have read them you would know why it is such a big issue to me. However, today, I went to a blog and saw the Spam counter with more than a million spam comments. Oh my god

The other day, I friend told me that I should grab an opportunity with a payout of $11 despite it does not fit into my qualifying blog. She said that I should not care so much about what goes into my blog as long as I get the money since our Page Rank has tanked and we will be struggling to earn a decent amount of money from our blogs.

And she told me that since traffic is not that high, it doesn’t matter because no one would care. Well, I DO. I try my best to write in the way that will fit into the niche of my blog, though I am aware that I sometimes fail.

Well, in the end I did not grab it.

If your Page Rank has also dropped, there’s nothing much you could do but keep blogging, keep banging it with more relevant content, links and all! If you are curious if I would abandon my blog, then the answer is no. Goog. does not dictate if my blog lives or not. I DO. I am the one entirely responsible for it.

Do I regret that my blog has fallen in ranks? If I have a choice, I would want both greens but since I am only allowed to choose one, then I have no regrets that at all.

The past year has been very exhilarating and I have had fun. I can now spend a little time to devote to my other blogs and try to find ways that will not keep me tied down to the computer as much as pad blogging.

If I could blog at leisure and yet earn, that would be awesome. And now that my blogs have been tanked, this is the chance for me to explore other options.
