Two Rejections

I received a couple of rejections last week through no fault of mine. So my blog dropped in rank but if the advertisers wanted a higher ranking blog then don’t show me those particular advertorials so that I can’t copy them to my blog.

And the funny thing is that I was given a chance to revise my ads and the note that came with the rejections went like this: Improve on your rank and reapply.

My goodness, does she think that I’m a god or something that I could just “improve” like that? If I could raise the ranks of blogs and sites with my magic wand I would have done it last life.

Anyway, I hope to be able to grab two more ads before the month is up so that I could maximize on my quota. Haihhh what an eventful the past two weeks have been. Events that we don’t ever want repeated.

It’s An Avalanche

Last evening, I received the very bad news from a blogging buddy of mine that the ranking one of her blogs fell by another notch. And here we thought that we have had the last of the spankings for this round.

Anyway, I feel for her. She and I are both at the bottom of the totem pole now and there’s nothing that we could do about it except to start more fresh blogs.

I have a feeling that this new downgrade that she experienced last evening was made manually and not an automated process. I am just trying to keep calm and keeping my fingers crossed that there will be no more of this in the coming months or it will be very hard for us.

Hey, don’t begrudge us for making a living, OK?

If You Do Not See Your Comment

I’d just like to clarify that if you do not see your comment being published, then I am sorry that I may have mistakenly deleted it from my Spam Comment Folder. I tell you, I feel myself getting old, just sitting here deleting pages and pages of spam comment. Is there anyone with more than ten pages of spam within a couple of hours??

I don’t know what I have done for my blog to deserve this but no way am I going to waste anymore time going through them UNLESS I see that someone has left me a comment on my Stats Tracker, or if a message is left to my via my Contact Form.

My spam comment count is already almost 40,000 and still counting. Before long, I will over take that person with more than a million comments. Who wants to bet??

Ad Placement Experiment

I was talking to the boss of one of the local advertorial agencies and I told him that my ad bars are not earning me anything even though the total page impressions of my blogs did not change much. Well, not as much to be noticeable, anyway.

Firstly, he said that I only have one ad code implemented on the sidebar when the maximum ads that we could place on a single page are four. This is an automated process so you could embed the codes all over your page but only four of them will show up.

Anyway, he told me that although my page impressions did not change, not all page impressions are equal. We in Malaysia most probably earn more in page impressions from within Malaysia. Ah, my blogs receive more foreign than local visitors. No wonder.

Also, he told me that I should also try out the half banner because different advertisers are using the different ad formats. Now I know why there are no advertisers on my ad box sometimes.

Well, I have made slight changes to the ad placement and size. Here’s hoping that my revenue picks up!

Unwelcome Blog Reader

This morning, I checked my blog statistics and I noticed that someone from one of the search engines coming to my blog to read. I tell you, even if my blog does not have a reader at all, not even one, I would not welcome this reader at all. All I can think of that he or she is a spy. This person who works at a company that also sends out BOTS to index our posts shares the same IP address as the BOTs is a human and not a bot.

My friend told me not to fret but I can’t help it, not after what happened to my blogs a couple of weeks ago. I am very protective of them ahaha… and I can’t help wondering what happens if my blogs get de-indexed.

I know my fear is irrational but I can’t help myself. Call me negative minded or whatever, I just don’t have a good feeling about it. Well, what to do? We’ll cross that bridge when it comes.

A Door Closes, A Window Opens

If you are suffering from the same Google fate as I am, and blogging for pay, I am sure you would know that many marketplaces are now closed to us. Well, what is there to do but to continue looking for more monetization options?

Have you already heard of BloggerWave? I have joined them from the early days and have made a little money from them. To some people, it may not be much but to me, I appreciate any opportunity I can get. I have not had any issue with bloggerwave before and I do not expect any from them. I have so far received all payments on the dot.

I do, however, wish that more advertisers will support them, Europe’s largest blog advertising marketplace. This would of course mean more jobs for us BloggerWave members. Some doors may have closed but a new BloggerWave window opens.

What Happens When Your PR Is Down?

Well, I think that most of us have suffered a PR demotion twice in the past month. What can we do? Nothing but to work on our blogs and work harder too. That’s what I am going to do and also start more blogs. Yes, I will be back!

A couple of my big time paid blogging friends have a string of blogs in the back burner, also updated regularly but are not monetized yet. However, they will bring these out if and when their working blogs are battered. With the rate they are posting, they realise that their blogs will be battered sooner or later.

Personally, I cannot manage that many blogs because I have a job to keep but to them, blogging is a full time job. Is blogging a full time job for you?
