History In The News

Although I run many blogs and read as many blogs too, I don’t purposely seek out History blogs to read. However, this afternoon, I was given the chance to review a blog called HISTORY IN THE NEWS which is authored by Hugh Graham, a journalist. This blogger says that, and I quote, “THE NEWS IS HISTORY. HISTORY IS THE NEWS.”

As a blogger with three Blogger.com blogs, I think Hugh Graham should get a new blog template instead of using one from Blogger. When I first started my blogs, I read that if we do not change the template to something a little more unique, if we do not have an ABOUT ME page and if we do not pay for our own hosting, then we are not serious about our blogs. However, if we are blogging for fun only then the third issue is not relevant.

If Hugh Graham decides to keep this template and implement AdSense and Bidvertiser, please blend in the ad codes as if they are part of the template. Just select the best color and use the same for all ad blocks.

Other than this issue with the template, I think that the blog is very easy to navigate and there is a structured Archive link, though I think that with skeletal content only, it would be better to set the archive to show posts on a month by month basis instead of weekly.

Hugh Graham has managed to keep to his niche; history and current affairs. Even though I do not like History, I find his articles on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto well written and well thought out. It is the kind of “information in a nutshell” perfect for people like me who have not been following Pakistani politics in-depth.

Check out http://blackdog2.blogspot.com if you would like to read journalistic commentary in an informal setting, on current affairs and how these events are shaped by history.

How Many Domains Do I Need?

When I told my friend that I have acquired more domain names, he was shocked and asked me how many I need. Although he is also a blogger, he does not understand why I host my own blogs instead of using free hosting.

Even though I already told him that it is better in the long run, he was not prepared to pay for a domain name or hosting.

Instead, what he does is to set up a blog with a free host, stay with them for months and filling it up with content and then move to a better free platform, leaving behind his old posts.

With free hosting like this, he already accumulated three blogs. What good this is I do not know. Isn’t it better for him to set up a single serious blog instead of moving like that? Rolling stones gather no moss, right?

Grab My Ads RM10 Sign Up Bonus

First of all, I have been a member of Grab My Ads for about a month and I think I placed their ad code for like three weeks. All I did earn from them so far is RM0.20 and that was from one click. I would say that this is a decent amount but I would prefer to get paid for the traffic of my blog. Why can’t a local blog advertising company give us revenue from clicks AND traffic at a good pay rate? RM0.20 is OK la, but don’t trick us with RM0.005, OK?

The other day, I saw that my account with Grab My Ads (trying not to read it as Grab My Ass) has been credited with RM10 with the note “sign up bonus”. I don’t remember reading that they are paying RM10 sign up bonus. Ad****lets paid RM50 and Nufflets paid US$15, by the way.

This morning, I received an email from Grab My Ads mentioning their RM10 sign up bonus for all accounts. Yes, they are back dating their records. Whheeee I know, I know, RM10 may not be much but it’s a step towards cash out!

Launching Blogs

I spent the better part of the night launching my new blogs. I have a new post for each blog after upgrading my WordPress, installing and activating my plug-ins and they were good to go for the time being.

Of course, I would still have to get WordPress themes for them and looking for the perfect one really takes up a lot of time, what with my fussiness!

but searching the internet for four templates at the same time is better than searching for templates one by one. At least now, searching to dress u four WordPress blogs is way better than searching for them one by one, right?

Come to think of it, I still have a website template to look for!

Free Images For Blogs

I have been invited to try out a free service that allows members to use high quality photos on our blogs for free. These photos are the kind that you see in magazines and do not have any legal entanglements.

However, they do have advertisement ON the photo itself. I have viewed them on the blogs of the founders and I find that they add great colour to our blog postings without fear that the copyright holder will come after us LOL

Although these photos do have advertisements, I don’t find them intrusive at all. Since I have been invited, I have signed up and may use some of these photos on my blogs. I haven’t finished browsing through their collection of images, so I will only pick my images later.

However, don’t get me wrong. Even though these images have advertisements ON them, we, the publishers do not get payment or compensation of any kind to display these ads because we are already using these high quality images for free.

I’m Mad [Gila]!!

If you have read my post a couple of days ago, you will know that I bought a few domain names. Frankly, as a noob who does not know much about WordPress or website building, I am really too ambitious already. And to have to learn to do all these by myself from scratch is going to take me a few months to get them started.

And….. this morning, while I was browsing a few Blogger blogs, I was thinking that I should get templates for my blogger blogs! Eeeyyerrrrr!!!

Those who know me, know that I have three Blogger blogs. Can you believe that I would want to add more work to myself at this point? Tell me I am not mad!!!

As you probably know also, I prefer three column templates and my Blogger blogs have only two templates. Yea, I know I have a lot of junk to display on my sidebar! But when I think of all the work, I really want to give up. And not forgetting the AdSense code. Eyeerrr!!! So much work to do, so little time!!!

Online Casino Reviews & News

This morning, I was told of a blog that reviews online casinos. I always love reading reviews like that because they are written by professional gamblers who really tried out each and every casino online as well as offshore casinos before writing the review and contributing their reviews to Casino Haste so you can say that they really know what they are talking about.

After going through the blog, which is like a group project, it’s a pity that it has been left idle since June, 2007, that’s like half a year ago. I hope the administrators will bring it up to speed again with new reviews because I believe that there are even more online casinos now and each has even better bonus structure because of the competitive nature of the online casino business.

This blog also has many industry news articles that are meant to keep us in the loop on any changes that may affect us online gamblers, either positively or negatively. If you would like to get all the information from one blog, I suggest that you bookmark it and hope that new content will be added in real soon.
