Post Exchange Programme

What do you think of the beta Post Exchange Programme that is being tried by one paid blogging marketplace? I have not done a single one and do not plan on doing any. That place is dead for me since my ranks fell to a big fat zero. But that’s not the point. The thing is, I am not so sure of having my blogs linked to from a majority of blogs that are on the same situation as mine: sandboxed.

Also, judging from the quality of posts on the forum, I am not that keen to have exchange posts written in a not-so-hot command of the English language. Besides, those blogs which still have a decent Page Rank will not be participating in this post exchange programme. Well, at least from what I read!

What about your opinion? Will you be joining the programme or do you plan to join it in the near future?

Average Post Count Per Week

Do you know what your average post count per week is? Well, I never knew it until yesterday! While there have been days that I post actively, there were also days that I have not posted even one post at all. It all depends on my “mood”, you see!

OK, so I thought that my average per day is 6 posts based on the total number of posts per month but it’s not true. My weekly average for this blog is slightly more than thirty posts per week.

This figure is based on Google RSS Reader where I am subscribed to my own RSS Feed and there’s a button for you to click to view details of the blog like the number of RSS subscribers and the number of weekly posts this blog publishes on average.

Well, it would be better if there were 30+ new RSS subscribers per week but who would like to be bombarded with so many posts in their RSS reader or RSS email subscription? 😀

Choosing Relevant Keywords First

I read that while content is Queen [networking is King], when it comes to garnering organic traffic, we have to choose our keywords carefully. Now, I am not talking about keyword stuffing like some of my blogger friends are doing, but just use relevant keywords as many times as possible in a fairly long post.

When I first started blogging, I write whatever I like but now, after slightly more than two years, I do spend a little time thinking what keywords to use first before composing my post. Of course there should be variety and in this aspect, having a good command of the language helps! Heh… I am working on this 😀

Depending on the niche of your blog, it also helps if to check the top search terms of the day and try to use them in your posts. So far, I have not gone to such lengths because I would rather hit the jackpot by luck and not through research!

But still, if writing about Edison Chen, the keywords to use would be Canada, Hong Kong, entertainment, singer, actor and actress, the titles of his movies and albums and the names of the actresses involved in the sex scandal. This is just an example LOL

Where Design & Style Meet

This morning I was told to check out the blog called Stylish Design, a blog on web design, art and culture. This blog has a magazine style layout which I like. You know how many layouts I have been through, this is the neatness magazine interface that I have ever seen!

Although this is a very new blog, if you like blog and web design, and especially creative art, then you should bookmark this blog as it is run by two guys with vast experience in the art and advertising field.

This blog, I think, is missing the Yearly Archive. it would make it more friendly to a reader who would prefer to read older posts in a chronological order. I know this may be magazine style, but the Archive could be placed at the bottom of the blog.

Tow more features that I spotted missing are the Subscribe to Comments and the links to Previous/Next Post. These are really helpful to the reader!

Get Your Blog UPP

Did you hear about the widget called BlogUpp? It’s supposed to help us with our blog traffic like BlogRush and other similar services whereby we have to place a widget on our sidebar and it will feed through the blogs of other members of the service.

Well, as an experiment, I joined this service with another blog of mine. I placed this widget on my sidebar, and this widget will show two blogs with new content on my sidebar.

Did you know how many new visitors that widget was able to gain me since I joined it? A miserable THREE only!

They did say that if we write about them, our blog will be given a higher number of impressions, meaning they will show our blog for more times on the widget of other members. Well, although I am writing about them, I am not going to inform them about thie article.

Argh, forget it lah. I may even soon be removing the widget from my sidebar since it’s not doing anything for me.

Creating Online Visibility Through Organic Searches

Many bloggers do not realize the value of an SEO-ed blog with an SEO-ed layout. The reason WordPress is such a popular blogging platform is the ability for us to customize and tweak our blogs.

However, no matter how good you set your blog up, if you do not add fresh content to it ever so often, search engines will not even know that your blog exists. Did you know how many times a dedicated blogger needs to post per day for search engine robots to consistently crawl your blog? I read that bloggers of celebrity blogs post more than forty times PER DAY!

For people like my friends and I who do not have time to post that many times because we have way too many blogs to dedicate our time to a single blog, we can still add fresh content to our blogs and create the desired visibility through organic searches, we can implement feeding of fresh, original content to our homepage so that the search engines will notice us.

There are plenty of web articles that we could use. Don’t worry, these are original articles hence you will not be penalized for duplicate content. If your blog is on SEO and advertising, then you can select only these niche articles to feed through your blog.

Web-articles.info has plenty of articles that you could select from. I read through the old and new articles in their database and they are keyword rich that will be helpful to your position in the search engines, particularly for your niche blogs.

There are plenty of categories to search and select from so use the one that is most suitable to your blog. Remember, the closer these articles are to your original blog content, the more they will help you with your search engine positioning.

Increasing Traffic With Social Network Portals

Many people have been saying that we could increase our traffic by bringing our blog out to social networking sites.

Although I am a member of almost all social networking sites that are out there for free registration, I never have tried to target traffic from social network members.

However, the other day while checking out applications that are on FaceBook, I decided to add a blog app to my profile and feed my new blog content through it. Well, after a few new posts since installing the app, I find that I will not get any new traffic from OTHER members who are not already on my Friends List.

HHmmm those that are already on my Friends List, well, they already know my blog and some have already subscribed to my RSS feed because they are my real friends and they support my venture. I feel kind of bad to have to bombard them with new posted items even on FaceBook LOL

The only way I can think of that could increase my traffic through social network sites is by creating a dud account and adding all my blogs in the blog feed application and then go around the site and network, network and network.

How do other people do it??
