Twitter

Although I have known of Twitter for a long time, I did not see a need to register for an account. I see no point in letting the world know what I am doing up to the minute especially when nothing interesting ever happens to me anyway.

Today, I was playing with my phone when I discovered that now, Fring supports MSN and also Twitter. Well, I did not see that previously.

I am thinking now that perhaps I should get a Twitter account just so that I could make the full use of my programme, device and my 3G subscription.

I wonder if there’s anyone who would be interested in what I have to say in Twitter. I know that it will be something lame like “I am sleeping”, “I just woke up”, “I am in the toilet.” Bla bla bla

Or would I be polluting Twitter world?

Hassle-free Online BackUp

I know I said that I would get my data on the computer backed-up but I keep procrastinating and then forgotten all about it until my friend asked me if I have found a good online backup service. OOPS!

He told me about IDrive-E’s encrypted Basic online backup that would certainly meet me requirements of FREE service, secure and 99.99% up time that comes with 2GB of storage space. That is awesome news and 2GB is more than enough to meet my needs!

According to my friend, if I do require more space, I could upgrade my account to an unlimited plan and it would only cost me $4.95 per month and subscribing for one year would only be $49.95, two months free!

My friend said that since I have so much junk data on my computer, I should back up early and frequent, especially those that keep changing through the day. He told me that I could run the back up program in the background while I would and IDrive-E would back up my frequently changing data at almost real time. This will save me the hassle of backing up at the end of the day, every day. Yay!

DeWitt’s Media’s Contextual Contest

Woohooo I just came across this contest by DeWitt’s Media from my feed, yes, I subscribe to their feed, and I am very eager to participate. I would love to WIN this contextual contest worth anything from $200 to $1000. I have so many websites I do not know which to submit.

However, I would love to win this and have relevant websites linking to me FOR FREE. Yes it could happen IF I win. I hope I will. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

If I do win, it means that I do not have to work my butt off trying to network and leave comments on other blogs or practically beg people to give me a one sided link so that my Page Rank could raise just a little bit.

The other day, I asked if the Google Page Rank is here yet … I think it has come and gone. Well, IF I win, I hope to be able to raise a point OR TWO in the next round 😀

Bored? Chat Online At WireClub!

I just received an SMS text from a friend complaining that she is bored! I told her to get online but she says that she can only surf to so many sites. But I told her that she could also chat with her buddies or log in to a chat room and get to know some strangers.

She said she has no idea where to go to so I went search for interesting chat rooms for her. You see, I can be considered an old hand at chatting online and know almost all the cool chat rooms to hang around, though that is supposed to be my secret!

Anyway, I told her about WireClub where she could register for an account and chat away! It is free, so why not take full advantage of all the features like joining a chat room, starting one or send private messages to other members.

WireClub is different from other chatting sites because it does not only host chat rooms but it is a chat network where communities of people from all over the world could get together online and arrange to get together offline. This is a place where members get to share their thoughts in chat rooms and in blogs. Yes, members are provided with free blogs as well! How cool could that be?

I bet that after my friend has tried out WireClub, I would no longer hear her complaining of boredom!

Thoughts.com – A New Blogging Community

The other day, I was thinking of setting up a new blog to be hosted by Blogger because I was getting quite sick of WordPress, frankly. A reader saw my post and told me about a blogging community at http://www.thoughts.com/

He told me that I could set up my blog easily PLUS have a ready readership because members of the community are very supportive of each other by reading blogs and leaving relevant comment. Also, members could rate each post we published and the good ones will generate a high rating and in return bring in more traffic.

The only thing that has stopped me from setting up a new blog is the networking that comes with it. Writing is fine but networking, building readership and Page Rank could be rather tedious. So I was thinking that with a Free Blog at a community blog host like Thoughts.com, perhaps I could concentrate better on blogging and and network among members.

Thoughts.com has provided Cloud tags on the homepage so we can easily read the thoughts of other members who are writing on the same topic. This could forge a close bond between members. Moreover, I think that some bloggers would be more motivated to write better and update the blog more regularly knowing that there is a group of people waiting to read each other’s blogs.

Although Thoughts.com is still in beta, members can also enjoy podcasting, sharing of photos and videos all under one website. I am sure you will appreciate how convenient it is to be able to share all these with just one web address.

I think it is going to be fun joining a blogging community where every member shares the joy of writing and sharing!

Getting Ridiculous

Four months ago, I wrote a post, Are You Kidding Me?, about getting a counter offer for a 200-word review post for $2.60, which I declined.

A few days ago, I came to know that advertisers in this particular marketplace have been getting ridiculous. A fellow blog for pay blogger received a counter offer for $3 for a $10 bid, which means a nett payment of $1.90 to her, after deducting 35% service charge.

While I personally have been more successful with this particular marketplace in the past month, I feel that advertisers here do not know, or do not care that we are paying 35% to the host of the marketplace out of the payment we receive.

If we were getting a nett payment of $3, there would still be takers are long as advertisers are reasonable in their requirement and not asking for a 300 – 400 word post, three links, images and videos.

I am not sure if this lady is going to accept or decline this opportunity but I think it surely will take someone who is really desperate to accept it.

PDF Spam

Only today did I realize that there is spam and there is PDF spam. If not for my friend who cautioned me not to simply open attachments from email, especially PDF files, I would not even know of it.

According to BorderWare, spammers which the intention to phish are getting smarter and this is their latest trick which is supposed to bypass security solutions.

However, according to BorderWare, they have their intercept engine that is supposed to filter out spam, catching up to 98% of spam. I think this is an amazing percentage to achieve.

I think that all corporations should implement BorderWare anti-spam and anti-phishing intercept engine so as to protect the identity of users. There is no need to be afraid that legitimate emails are intercepted instead because BorderWare allows users to build a safe list where only trusted people are entered into an address book.

In any case, it is of utmost importance to have protection using the best solution! Phishing is so rampant we can’t be too careful. A friend told me that the only way we could protect ourselves is if we do not get online. Now I can tell him that there is BorderWare!
