How Many Germs Live On your Keyboard?

While surfing the internet, I came cross this quiz. I just had to do it! As you know, I am stuck to my computer 20/7 and the keyboard is the second thing I touch when I wake up and the second last thing before I go to bed. The first and the last is my mobile device haha!

You may wonder why I just have to do this quiz. It is because my keyboard is black in colour and I never cleaned it before! Why should I when I don’t see any dirt on it? Haha! yes, there are dust particles here and there but they have cleverly sipped down between the keys. Haha!! So now you know why I don’t see the need to wipe it.

Yet, I am curious enough to take this quiz so let’s see, by answering the quiz honestly, how many germs are living and multiplying on my keyboard!

An Ideal Maui Vacation

Last week, I wrote that my friend and her family have decided to spend their annual year end holiday in Maui, Hawaii. It is not a surprise that they decided on Maui. Although they come from a tropical country, Hawaii and particularly Maui, offers so much more that we are not able to find here, namely the culture, friendly people and the hospitality. It may be a first trip for them but they have heard so much about Maui that they decided to experience the island first hand.

If I were to go to Maui, I would love to rent the Executive Lower Ohana. This looks like the perfect Maui vacation rental for my small family. It’s cosy, offers a great ocean view and comes with a picturesque garden. Some people may prefer Maui condo rental instead but I prefer a cottage. I’m not saying accommodation at a Maui condo or hotel is not ideal but I would rather have the privacy that a cottage offers than put up with nosy tourists!

Going to Hawaii for a vacation which is so far away and without direct flight, the wise thing to do is to cut down on the hassle of arranging for the whole trip. Booking one of these Maui vacation rentals through Vacation Rentals On Maui, we could have our accommodation taken care of without additional headache! That’s the idea of going on a vacation, isn’t it?

Shifting The Balance

You may notice that I have shifted the balance of my blog. Last month, I was being a law abiding good girl and kept at 50:50 across my blogs, and I mean ALL of them. Guess what? At the end of the month, I realise that I have missed all the opportunities from one particular marketplace which I was having a good month the previous month.

And so, I decided that to hell with following my self-imposed rule so strictly. I will once again blog as and when I want to be they sponsored or not. I will publish them as and when I like. I would still be keeping drafts on my blog for emergencies but I will no longer keep count on the number of drafts sitting pretty in my draft folder.

And what do you know? My bid was once again accepted. I was so happy 😀 Didn’t I say that it takes a little to make me happy? Yes, I am convinced that most sponsors for not mind or do not care if our blogs are full of outgoing links as long as each post is well thought out and well composed and the blog is relevant to their own website.

Once again, I am hoping to get more opportunities from this marketplace, because, really, in this business, you can’t survive on one marketplace alone unless you are a Page Rank 6 but then I don’t see why you should monetize your blog this way if you have a Page Rank 6!

Looking For The Best Webhosts?

I mentioned in a previous post that my hosting is free. It is not that I do not love free but free hosting doesn’t come with technical support and since I am such a noob, I feel lost when something happens to my blogs. Sometimes, I do seek help from my host but I feel bad about it.

A few days ago, I wrote that I am contemplating hosting my blogs on virtual private servers and my friend recommended a guy to me but I do not like him because he never respond to my email when I need help but replies me within minutes when I ask him about my billing. Yes, he is also a host of one of my blogs.

So once again I am in the market looking for a supportive and reliable web host. I am not looking for cheap hosting but one that comes with maximum up time and solid customer support.

My search led me to a website that compares top ten best web hosting companies. Actually, I love comparison charts like this because I could get the lo-down on the top ten companies all in one glance.

This is not only a review of the top ten web hosting sites but if we buy hosting packages via this website, Top10Webhosting.com, we are entitled to a discount on hosting packages offered by Monster Host and LunarPages.

If you are thinking of getting your own domain name and hosting, now is the time! I heard that domain name registration will be more expensive next week, so act fast!

Experiment On Spam Comments

A thought came to me with all the spam comments I am getting. I usually clear my spam folder a few times a day, in fact, each time I log into my Admin panel. I know some people could not care less about checking their spam folder but I do it because I know some legitimate comments are mistakenly considered as spam by Akismet, especially comments by bloggers who network actively.

And so I check it in case there are legitimate comments there and to avoid misunderstanding.

So now my experiment is to see how many spam comments this blog receives within twenty four hours. I know it will be a few hundred but am not sure if it will go up till a thousand within a day. When I deactivated Akismet to upgrade my WordPress database the other day, five spam comments came through just for that period of time that did not even last five minutes. Hah… is that a record or something?

I still do not get how spammers work but the joke about all this is that there are such spam comments that said that if we would like our URL removed from the spam database, to email that spammer. Hah… I can only imagine that should we do that, we would be spammed a million times more. What do you think?

Metal Buildings Are So Popular

I surf the internet a lot because I like to check out on trends and popular things. One of the things that are very popular right now are Metal Buildings. These aren’t exactly new, if you ask me, but they are making a comeback recently perhaps people start to realize that metals buildings can save us a lot of money compared to a brick building, I think.

Metal Buildings come in many shapes and sizes and even color to suit our usage and requirements and could be custom ordered just to fit the right spot in our backyard. There are many commercial uses for such metal buildings as well because they are very cost effective and keep the capital outlay low.

Although I do not see the “beauty” in metal buildings, I do appreciate that it is a very flexible and versatile building where they can be used for just about anything whether in a family home or commercially.

I have a friend who has a metal building set up in his garden and he uses it as his “private space” away from the main house where he could get some peace from the noise. He said that he could work and think better in there. Aren’t men funny?

It Was A Bad Izea

Ted mentioned on the blog that they have decided on a new name for Argus and it is not one of those that he asked for our opinion and vote. Well, I am glad that the four have been discarded. I HOPE they have!

And I really hope that it will NOT be Izea. Do you know what is Izea? Well, it’s just plain ol’ IDEA pronounced by a non-English speaking European. Don’t get me wrong, I am not dissing Europeans but this is the way my European friends speak English because it’s not their native language.

Most of their English words are pronounced with a “Z” in it even though the spelling does not. An “idea” can end up being an “izea”, you know?

Maybe I am weird, but I don’t get it why Posties were all saying that Izea is a great name. Well, I just think that was a bad Idea and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, this is not the name that will be revealed during PostieCon.
