Viewty vs. iPhone

I forgot to mention that in the battle between the Viewty and iPhone, who won in my opinion???

As you can see in my previous post, I did use it for a little while. In fact, I could take home and use as much as I could but after trying my friend’s unit out, I decided not to take it. Unless it was free lah… cheh :(

If you say form factor, of course the iPhone win hands down. In fact, I think it’s the sleekest phone in the market right now. Features wise, though, the Viewty wins.

But then it’s not practical to have both touch screen phones. Even though my relationship with the E61i is like a bad marriage, I am very comfortable with its QWERTY keypad. I could type out very long text on it. I don’t think I can do that with touch screen.

Pictures of My iPhone, Finally!

I know this post has been a long time coming and to all who have been waiting for it, sorry to have kept you waiting! I received my iPhone a week ago exactly on my birthday, courtesy of Mr. Gary Lee, THE internet marketer, who ran a very successful iPhone sweepstakes sometime in July earlier this year.

I actually got to know of the contest from Phil the Contest Blogger and I thought I would not participate because Mr. Gary Lee wanted links to three different websites (a women’s deals site and a golf equipment site) and a link to the contest page. It’s not that I was stingy with my linking but I was lazy to read the requirements.

Also, Mr. Gary Lee said that blogs with PR0 – 3 would only get one entry into the contest and although I had PR3 for all my blogs back then, I only submitted ONE entry. However, after participating in this iPhone giveaway, I entered some other contests that purportedly gave away iPhones as well which unfortunately turned out to be iPhoney!

Long story short, I was lucky enough to be picked as the winner as you can see from this video that Mr. Gary Lee made, together with his business partner, Ms. Danielle. Thanks so much, guys!

When I received my iPhone package, which travelled half the world to me, I actually took a series of photos because this is what people do in an unboxing ritual. I did not do it when I was unboxing my Nokia E61i so I thought this is the chance for me to get pictures but they turned out like crap no thanks to my E61i for failing me!

I S.O.S.-ed my friend to help me with the photos which he did as you can see here. Two people, four devices. The LG KU990 Viewty, Nokia E61, Nokia E61i and the iPhone. Even with a professional photographer with a REAL camera, the photo did not turn out well.

He decided to mount the flash and still I was not happy with it!

Today, I decided to take new photos with an Olympus that is on loan. I don’t know how to operate it yet so once again the photos turned out badly. I don’t even know how to turn on the flash! lol It’s not camera problem this time but user problem! I did ask the owner to teach me to use it first but he told me to R.T.F.M. (Read The F******* Manual). I just want to tell him that I don’t like to read no f******* manual! JUST SHOW IT TO ME!! ……. but I did download it from the web and WILL have to read it later. Bah!

So here’s my post on my win! Yay! Happy! Happy!! Happy!!! And thanks to Mr. Gary Lee once again! This is the bestest [as if there is such a word] birthday present I ever had! Woooeeeeeeeeeee!!!

P/S: Now I know why it took me so long to write this post. It’s like writing an Oscar speech and I had to make sure that I did not leave anyone out. Not forgetting all the links!

Redecorating For The New Year

Did you know that area rugs make great decorative items for the home or office? I love area rugs because they are inexpensive and come in so many different colors and patterns that it is easy to change them according to my mood or the season.

An online store that that specializes in area rugs that I recently discovered is called Area Rug Outlet. If you are looking for area rugs as well, you should check out this store too. Whether you are in the market for floral area rugs, casual area rugs, animal area rugs or Southwest Area Rugs which you can find by clicking this link, http://www.arearugoutlet.com/southwest-area-rugs.html, Area Rug Outlet will surely have something for every taste.

For people who are on a budget, they will be happy to know that Area Rug Outlet has a section for clearance area rugs. These are sold at an even lower price that the already cheap price that they normally sell their area rugs.

Area rugs are also great as gifts for people who love decorating their homes or offices regularly (me, me, me!!!). Browsing through this website has inspired me to redecorate my rooms for the New Year. I already have in mind a color scheme and design that a couple of rugs here will match perfectly!

Eight Million Alexa Reading! Freaky!

We all know how inaccurate Alexa reading is and yet we all want ours to be as low as possible. And the thing is no matter how hard we work on the traffic and see an increment, Alexa seems to continually creep higher and higher! At least that was what I felt like! Maybe in the grand scheme of things, my traffic is not as good as other sites even if it has improved on my blog.

Anyway, I had a shock the other day when I saw that a friend’s blog is showing an Alexa reading of over eight million! Yes, can you believe that??? When I first started my blog, with a new domain name, it was “only” slightly more than two million. With a couple of posts, it soon fell a million points.

But this friend’s blog, which is a free Blogger blog, is showing EIGHT million!!! I thought that once a sub-domain blog is out of a particular range, it will show the reading of the main domain, in this case, Blogger’s Alexa reading, which should be twelve or something.

Previously, when my Alexa reading was rising, I was panicky and thought to myself, “Oh my god, it’s going to fall off the radar!” but now that I have seen a site with EIGHT million, which fell to FIVE million with a new post, I am calmer now! Haha!

Cool Stuff This Christmas!

Although I love festivities, one thing I am afraid of is thinking up appropriate gifts for my friends and family! I wonder how the others can come up with different gifts year in and year out. They must have put in a lot of thought! I have spent the past month browsing the internet trying to find gifts that are out of the ordinary, that would make the recipient go “OOOOO”, or put a look of surprise on their face.

This morning, after almost giving up, I was told to check out a website that has lots of cool stuff that would make wonderful gifts! Can you imagine giving Plasma Art for Christmas? What about hourglass sand timers?

After going through the whole website and their full range of products, I have to say that my favorite is the Screen Petz. It would be ultra cool if somebody would give me this for Christmas! I love pets, I am sure EVERYONE knows that already!

CoolStuffExpress.com has so many different products that are suitable for people of all ages and competitively priced without breaking our budget. I already have in mind some cool educational toys for the kids in the family!

If you have yet to look for gifts, what are you waiting for? There’s only three weeks to Christmas! Shopping online is the best to beat the Christmas crowd!

Photos Not Turning Up Well

I know I was supposed to write a post on my iPhone win and prize like LAST WEEK! Hehehe… I am not procrastinating this time but I had to wait till I could get the iPhone working first and also the photos are not turning up well.

How does one capture a black object with shiny metal that keeps reflecting light? I tried with my E61i for the unboxing ritual but they all did not turn up well enough. Spoilt already!

My friend helped me with his professional Olympus camera, those that you need to mount a flash on, but I am still not happy with the results. I am going to try again later with another Olympus camera and hopefully, I can finally get some decent photos to do up my long awaited post!

Stay tuned! Happy post coming up as soon as I have my photos!

Rediscovering The Joys Of Radio Listening

Although many people tell me that I can listen to the radio on the internet, I prefer my trusty radio. It’s a HD Radio Receiver and reception is very clear. Sure, the internet offers many different broadcasters but the clarity and reception depend on my internet connection and let’s just say that it’s not that reliable.

On the other hand, the HD radio receiver is not only able to receive hundreds of radio stations with strong signal but also offers iPod dock with iTunes Tagging where you can tag whatever song that is being played on the radio and the information will be saved in a special folder in iTunes which you can buy from iTunes directly with just a few mouse clicks and download it to your iPod, or in my case, iPhone.

I told my friend, Paul, about it. Even though he is not very high tech, he is already enjoying New York high definition radio stations. If it has been a long time since you switched on your radio, it’s time to rediscover the joys of radio listening through HD radio.
