Alexa Reading Mismatch

Although many people have said that Alexa is inaccurate, I would still like to see mine go lower and lower. I know that Alexa is no longer relevant but since I have entered this “trade”, I have received training to checking on my page-rank, Alexa reading, Technorati reading and whatever other rank there is. One of the latest that I check is Complete.

For a few days, I noticed that my Alexa reading on the toolbar and the one on my Alexa button that I have embedded on my blog are showing different figures. I know that one of them takes a little time to update but A FEW DAYS is way too long. LOL Can you imagine one of them being updated only to have a new reading?

One would think that a web-based application should be REAL-TIME, don’t you think so?

Bridging The Distance With Family Websites

Although I have many websites, they are all personal sites. It never crossed my mind to set up a family website until I was told of Family Crossings. After checking this site out, I think that it is an excellent idea to have such family websites for families which are spread far and wide. Fro example, I have families in various cities in the United States, in London, Singapore, Gold Coast in Australia and of course in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, in Malaysia.

Naturally, and unfortunately, we do not get to meet up all that often unless it is a major family event when we are all obligated to attend. With such a family website as provided by Family Crossings at http://www.familycrossings.com, we would be able to share our life with family in the other side of the world.

Family Crossings provide us with the tools to set up such a family site without the hassle or technical know-how. It’s free too! However, if we would like to get rid of the advertisements that support the free account, then we could opt for an upgrade and pay only $9.95 per month. I think this is well worth the money because if we share the cost of maintaining this site among our family members, each of us will only have to pay $1 per month, or less. Tell me this is NOT affordable??

AstroView Magazine

I have been receiving mailers asking me to subscribe to AstroView magazine and it is said that subscribers will receive complimentary copies twelve months or less, depending on when we opt for the free subscription.

However, the fine print says that this “offer” is only valid for people who are subscribed to Astro before February, 2008. That means that I do qualify since mine was activated sometime in June, 2007.

HHmm does this mean that there will no longer be the Astro Guide that we are familiar with? If I do not opt for this one year of complimentary copies, does it mean that I no longer will receive ANY guide from Astro? This is just so vague!

Although I love freebies, I hate the fact that we would only be getting this freebie for twelve months and I would have to keep remembering to cancel my subscription in time so as not to be billed.

Arghh so insincere! TV guides should come free to customers. So what if they upgraded the magazine to be glossier than the previous version? They can, however, sell them at newsstands if they want.

Are you opting for the free issues of AstroView magazine?? I don’t know if I should since I don’t even have time to read them.

Custom Building Laboratory Furniture

This morning, I went to Formaspace out of curiosity to check out what they have to offer. I actually heard of this company for months but never bothered to visit it. I am glad I did today. Although I have no use for laboratory furniture, at least I know how lousy and ancient the laboratory tables and benches are in my school!

The laboratory furniture built by Formaspace is modern, sleek and space-saving. Customers can custom-build them by using a form or by contacting the company directly. This means that they can specify the type and design laboratory furniture to suit their needs and budget.

One main issue about furniture is that they must be practical and comfortable to use. If manufacturers could implement these two into an elegant design then they would have a winner on their hands. You can see many of these on Formaspace.

G.o.o.g.l.e. Christmas Gift

I read in a couple of blogs that some publishers have received their Christmas gift from G. recently. It is assumed that these publishers either are earning a lot or spending a lot on a certain G product. For all I know, it could be a random pick kinda thing, after all, they should keep everyone happy and not just the heavyweights.

You may wonder why they should keep the little guys happy, it’s simple because there are more of us. Hah!

It would be very ironic is one of those p.a.i.d.t.o.p.o.s.t. bloggers get one if these gifts Haha! If you are curious, this year, the gift is a 2GB flash drive, which looks like a credit card.

Last year, it was a digital photo frame. GIMME! GIMME!! GIMME!!! I don’t NEED these but it’s great to show-off Blehhhhh

Full College Bowl Game Schedules

I really salute the Americans for their passion and spirit in sports. This competitiveness is stemmed from young when kids try to get into junior leagues and play their way to the top. This sporting culture is enhanced when people bet on their favorite teams. My American friends are always talking about one Bowl after another and since I left America, I have lost track of Bowl Game schedules since I don’t bet anymore.

This morning, I was told of a website called Doc’s Sports. I am surprised that I never heard of it even though they have more than thirty years of providing sports handicapping services. Well, this site might jet get me interested in College Bowls once again as they are publishing full College Bowl Game Schedules with updates, previews and reviews by their full time professional team of staff. This sounds interesting!

Each Bowl Game schedule includes the location, participants, date and time and the TV channel that it will broadcast on. By accessing Bowl Game information from Doc’s Sports, there really is no need to go anywhere else!

Stuck With This Template

I am so frustrated with trying to change this template that I have given up and resigned to the fact that I am stuck with this one. Don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this template except that I want a widget-ready three-column template so that I can place “Scratch My Back” that I joined ages ago and one that looks professional.

I actually found one but then it needs so much customization that I don’t even know where to start. And I wonder why the name of my blog does not appear, but the name of the template does, on my header.

I have learnt that if I am not up to modifying a template, I would have to just move on. There is no use to bug people for help because they would only curse and swear behind one’s back even if they agreed to help.

So it’s either I continue to search for a very simply template or continue using this. I think I have no choice because I have so much work to do!!
