Ready Stream Of Blog Readers

I lamented to a friend that I really would like to set up a personal blog but dread the task of building traffic and readership. I am not someone who likes to network because I like to write only. Whether people read or not, I don’t mind but then when so many things depend on great statistics, I have to do whatever it is to beef up my stats as well.

I can start as many blogs as I wish but I really don’t want to network because I cannot spare the time and with so many blogs, my attention per blog is wearing thin.

My friend suggested that I set up a blog in a blogging community, like at http://www.thoughts.com/. He said that with a high membership count, these people are my potential readers. I would be able to concentrate on writing and readers will come because of the recent blog posts widget, the ease of searching for blog posts via Cloud Tag and getting posts rated by other members.

Besides setting up a blog on Thoughts.com, I would also be able to upload photos and share them or start my own podcast, my dream, really! I wonder why it did not cross my mind to set u my blog on Thoughts.com. I KNEW about it months ago…. I feel like kicking myself to have to struggle with independent blogs, working my butt off trying to gain that extra reader!

Attending An Online University

Although I don’t really need to rely on a paper certificate to show my worth at my job, I would still feel better if I had one. I may not need it to earn a living right now but one doesn’t really know what the future may bring and to have that extra knowledge that could only be gained by attending university, would only be an added advantage.

Some of you may know that I lead such a hectic work life that between that and family, I really don’t have time for anything else, let alone time to attend university. Heck, I don’t even have time for myself.

My friend told me that for the betterment of my future, I would have to MAKE time and sacrifice something else for the sake of education. Fortunately, I can get access to tertiary education from an online university and that would make things so convenient. I like the idea of studying at my own pace from home without peer pressure. I may just do it next year. I have to act quick of the gap between new graduates and myself would be wider and wider.

70 Pages

Last night, I thought I would check the internet and see if there are many people in Malaysia using the iPhone and was surprised that there are a couple of threads in a local forum specifically for users of iPhone. Well, I have been a member of this forum for years but I don’t usually go to the MAC section since I am not a MAC user and the prices are too high class for me.

In the latest thread, there are a total of SEVENTY pages and I feel like I have to read them all in order to know how to make the fullest use of my iPhone. Of course, the important stuffs have been moved to the first post but still, I like reading the questions of other members because I may just have the same questions myself.

When I bought my Nokia E61i, I found a very informative thread in a Symbian mobile device forum and there were ninety pages to that thread, started BEFORE the device was even released. Eeekkkk I tried reading that from the beginning and got stuck at around Page 20. Phew…. I wonder if I will ever finish reading it or not. I just hope members don’t keep adding posts to the thread or I will never get to the end!!!

Traveling On A Motor Home

It has always been my father’s dream to buy a caravan and travel from my home city of Ipoh in Malaysia, up north to Thailand and from there visit China, then Russia. I think that would be too ambitious, that’s why we never really pulled that off.

However, if I had the chance, I would love to visit all the fascinating old European cities in a motor home either with my friends or family, but not both of them together!!

I have a lot of European pen-pals who invited me to visit them and if I were to travel in a motor home, I would save on accommodation and do not have to impose on these friends and their family. Although they did invite me to their place, it is just not convenient for me and for them.

My dream would be to visit Monte Carlo, a place that I have wanted to visit for a very long time but never had the chance. It would a double dream come true if I were to enter the city in a motor home!!

I know that traveling like this is very common in the West but it is not a common traveling concept where I come from so I will be very thrilled if I get to do it at least once!

Email Without Text

The other day, my sister sent an email home to my mom and the funny thing was that, the email arrived without text even though she said that she wrote a long mail. The odd thing is that normally, when an email has no text, a pop-up box will appear but not this time, since she DID write an email at first.

I went to her email account to check her Sent Folder and yes, her email was there except that it also does not have any text! Now my sister is lazy to retype anything. I tried to teach her to type her email on MS Word or Notepad first but she is so low tech, she does not get what I am telling her, even on the phone. She doesn’t understand why she should do that. I guess she is not as sceptical as I am with technology.

I don’t know what has been happening to Hotmail lately but I have not been receiving my emails and I did not know until something bad has happened as a consequence. Well, I hope that whatever glitch it is facing will be righted soon.

Traveling With Maps

Maps are very important in our lives. I am so glad that I live in the age where maps are already drawn out for most towns and cities. I wonder what the people who drew these maps went through a long time ago doing all those maps. I really thank them for the maps. I have never been good with maps and let’s not talk about DRAWING them, I have problems even READING them!

There was once when a friend of mine visited me and I had to take him to visit one of the most popular places in Ipoh and I took him to the wrong place, embarrassingly. Luckily, he was a boy scout and came equipped with a local map, GPS and compass. Haha!!

This friend of mine also has his own website that tourists rely on to visit popular places in Kuala Lumpur. You should check out the maps he drew and the popular spots he charted on the map. These people found the maps very useful, with directions and public transport facilities added in that they asked him if he provides map printing services, which he does not.

Without using maps, I think most of us would lose out way, me more than others, because I don’t have a good sense of direction!

The Internet Is My Best Friend

Yabadabadooooo My Celcom 3G SIM works with iPhone now!

Just now I decided to do a search on the internet and see if my Celcom 3G SIM card will work with my iPhone or not and I found a solution in a forum. Now… if only I could get 3G to work with it, I would be so happy, happy, happy!!!!!

But I guess not until a new version of 3G iPhone is released. According to my friend, it is not a matter of simply upgrading the firmware. Alamak… why does technology have to be so complex???

Do you know why I started this post with “Yabadabadooooo”? Because just now I tested my first SMS to a friend and wrote “Yahoo! My 3G SIM works with iPhone!” and he responded with, “What about Google?” Bah!!!! So bad, laugh at me!!!

3G, 3G, 3G!!!!
