Citizen Journalism

A friend just graduated from a course in Citizen Journalism so I consulted a friend if I should take up the course too, to bring my blogging to a higher level. This course is not available where I live so I would have to travel if I want to take it up.

My friend, a professional blogger, says I don’t need to as what I am doing is already citizen journalism. Sure, I would not have a certificate to show for it but I am already taking videos and photographs of public interest issues and events in city and posting them on my niche blog. Besides, I am also building my YouTube profile.

What I need to do now, advised my friend, is just to polish my photo taking and video editing. I would have to write better too. Well, isn’t this why I just need to take up this course? Too bad it’s not available here!

Online University

My uncle met me over Qing Bing weekend and asked if I am ready to start studying for online university degree. You see, he runs a company that co-ordinates classes for working adults and I could study through him for free.

Frankly, even if I could find time to return to books, I would not want to go to him. It would make me feel like I owe him something, a feeling that I am not used to. I want to be independent and gain my tertiary education through my own hard work too.

Luckily there are quite a few accredited online universities that offer courses that we could study over the internet at our own convenience, particularly tailored for working adults, and just the kind of study lifestyle that I need.

Printer Sharing

You know, I really am absolutely not technical minded. I have been trying to share my printer for days now and failed. I have given up!

My printer, Epson CX3900, is connected to my desktop computer running Windows XP Pro. I am trying to access the printer from my laptop which is running on Windows Vista Business. Although I do not use the printer much, it would be great if I could print the little documents that I need to print, remotely if I want to.

I read tutorials online that I should open access from my desktop computer. Well, I am stuck RIGHT THERE. I “think” I have already opened it but I couldn’t “see” it from my desktop.

SIGH I think I will have to do it the conventional way by emailing the files to myself from the laptop to access them from my computer or to save the files in my pendrive.

Actually, I still have another desktop computer that runs on Windows XP Pro too, that I would like to print remotely from. I figure this would be easier to network but I think I will give up lest I drive my blood pressure up!

Addicted To Online Game

I thought I said that I wouldn’t have time for computer games, with 20 blogs to run, but in fact, now that I am only writing on eight blogs regularly, which leaving the rest to “rot” in cyber space and only returning to blog when inspired, I do have time for games. Actually, I am a little shy to admit that I am addicted to it.

The game I am playing right now is Pet Society on Facebook. Since I am logged into Facebook almost daily, I just keep the game open and rake in the paw points. Coins are harder to come by, unfortunately.

After playing for about forty days now, I have already bagged all the trophies except for the gold hurdles trophy. We need 250 wins for that and I still need 42 wins to bag that. This just needs time as we are only allowed to race in ten hurdles race per day.

After bagging the trophies, I am not sure what challenge the game poses anymore. Perhaps I could just continue to gain points so that I could get all nine rooms, where at this point I have six rooms only, all bare. I can’t seem to have enough coins to furnish ’em rooms!

I guess once I have bagged the last trophy, the addiction will be gone, but let’s just see. LOL

Texas Personal Injury Law Firm

My friend, Paul, asked me to contact my sister to see if she could recommend a good Texas personal injury attorney. I don’t know why, no matter how many times I tell him that my sister is in Tennessee, he keeps thinking that she is in Texas.

Obviously, my sister does not personally know of a personal injury lawyer but there is a very experienced personal injury law firm with talented lawyers who would be able to help Paul’s friend who may have a personal injury case in Austin.

Luckily, O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath has a website so it is not difficult to look for contact information online so that this friend in need could contact the firm directly to seek legal consultation.

Gmail is 5

Wow, how time flies, I didn’t even realize that Gmail is already five years old until I saw a post on the Gmail blog. I don’t remember when I started using Gmail, unless I check my very first welcome email from Gmail. However, I do remember that I was one of the early adopters of Google’s free web based email service.

Having said that, I have a friend who paid quite a bit of money to buy a Gmail invitation when it was open to selected web users only In fact, I know quite a few people who made some money then. At first, they could sell these invites for a tidy sum but then more and more people were selling them since each Gmail account came with a hundred invitations that we could send out.

I remember that I too received an invitation to register for a Gmail account but that was given to me free by a friend. If I was required to pay for it, I wouldn’t. That is why I said I’m a cheapo! LOL

Kerchoonz – Free Legal Music Downloads & Streams

Recently, I was looking for a way to share music with friends online but I couldn’t find a good way. Of course, there are many ways to do so illegally but I rather prefer to do it legally. After all, I respect the copyright holders and I do understand that much has been invested in the creation of music and intellectual property has to be protected.

Just now, I was told of this fairly new music sharing website called Kerchoonz where we could embed a widget on our website, blog or social network profile to share the music that we like with our visitors. The music here wouldn’t be music that we hear on the radio all the time but new, undiscovered music is still music and in fact, most times, they sound even better than music by established artistes!

What makes Kerchoonz different from other music sharing website is that they encourage new musicians to share their music online and provide an opportunity for these musicians to earn money from their music each time it is listened to or downloaded. For music lovers using Kerchoonz, not only do we get to enjoy music for free, we get to support these musicians as well so that they are able to continue producing great music to share with us!
