240 Million Windows 7 Licenses Sold In First Year

Microsoft has announced that to day, 240 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold, one year after its launch. According to Microsoft in a blog post, Windows 7 is their fastest selling Operating System so far. As of September, 2010, Windows 7 was running on 93% of new consumer PCs and according to Net Applications, as of 1st October, 2010, Windows 7 holds over 17% global OS market share. These are impressive figures, of course.

Earlier in the year, people in the industry have predicted that Microsoft could well sell 300 million Windows 7 licenses by the end of 2010. They are closing in on that number already. Unfortunately, I am part of this statistics having just purchased a Windows 7 desktop. It has served me well, though, so no complaints.

Submitting My Resume To Recruitment Agencies

I am quite embarrassed that at my age, I have never been employed for even one day before and I have never written a resume before. However, the other day, my friend saw a job vacancy ad the website of a recruitment agency and urged me to apply for the job as he thinks that I am a good fit. He even helped me polish my application and resume.

Now that I already have my resume written, I think that I should submit it to as many prospective employers as possible. It would be naive of me to think that I would be successful in my first ever job application therefore I have been checking out recruitment websites almost daily.

If I was desperate for employment, I can certainly understand the stress one faces searching for a job. Luckily for me, I am looking for employment because I would like new challenges. It would definitely is a big step forward to me to be employed, proving some people wrong that I am highly unemployable!

Google Fixes ‘High Risk’ Chrome Browser Vulnerabilities

Google shipped out another Chrome browser update to plug multiple security flaws of the browser. I would have thought that Google should have already checked for vulnerabilities first before releasing their product to the market, knowing how hackers and spoofers love taking advantage of such loopholes in browsers.

Recently, a friend told me to stop using Chrome because of its security vulnerabilities and I thought that he was just saying so because it’s a Google product. You know how some people try not to use too many Google products because of monopolization? He didn’t elaborate on the vulnerabilities though and even if he did, I would not understand him.

Anyway, I stopped using but didn’t uninstall it from my computer. Then when my computer died and I bought a replacement desktop, I remembered not to install Chrome. I think that I would not install it anytime soon. I use Firefox as my primary browser and if I need a second browser, I have Opera and Internet Explorer. Three are more than enough!

Home Pest Control in Houston

Once again, my neighbor has called the pest control company to have a look at their home. Every time these guys come, they will accidentally knock at our door instead. I wonder why! We don’t have the same house number!

I once asked my neighbor why the pest company has made so many visits and she is still faced with the same pest problem. If I remember, this has gone on for YEARS! She said that she has been paying good money and yet, the problem comes back every time. I could see that she is rather disappointed.

I came across a Houston pest control company that has years in handling such pest control problems and I believe that with their experience, my neighbor would finally get her pest problem solved once and for all. Too bad, we live too far away from Houston!

Google Street View Cars Breached Canadian Privacy Laws

Yawn… this happened back in April, when Google, in a blog post, admitted that they accidentally collected personal details, including full email addresses and even health records from unsecured wi-fi connections of home users.

NOW, Canadian authorities are saying that the company has breached Canadian privacy laws and want all such information deleted from their system by 1st February, 2011. At that point, the commissioner’s office will consider this issue resolved.

While it’s dumb to leave a wi-fi connection unsecured, though there are people who have left the “door” open unknowingly, it’s still wrong of Google to collect such information and to have kept them until now even though the company has already known about it in April. How many months does the company require to delete these information from their system?

Web Hosting Coupon Code

My friend, Amy, sent me a text message earlier today, asking if I have any good web host to recommend as she knows that my package is cheaper than hers. I told her about my web host, but she was still not that satisfied with the subscription rate. I think she is planning to cut down on her blogging expenses.

I told her that I would look out for her and as luck would have it, came across this ipage coupon which would save her even more. iPage is already an inexpensive web hosting company. If she uses this iPage coupon code, I think that the difference in hosting fees compared to her current subscription would be significant. At least, it’s even cheaper than my current web hosting plan!

Although iPage offers low cost hosting, which is suitable for people who are planning to set up a blog or eCommerce store, iPage web hosting packages do not lack in features. One would be able to enjoy free domain name, unlimited domain hosting, unlimited hosting space and date transfer, free script library, free blog, free online store and a lot of other freebies thrown in.

Also, one aspect of a webhost that one should look for is customer and technical support. When it comes to this, iPage is one of the best in the industry, winning the Best Support June 2010 award. I think that Amy would be most satisfied!

Google Says, “Change Passwords Twice A Year”

Google has advised users to change their passwords twice a year, and for Google suite of products, to have a different password for a different service. I don’t know if this is possible or even how to make that change if it’s possible.

Of course, along with this advice, there was a long list of things that we should and should not do, especially if we are using a shared computer or a public computer. Yet, even though Google has prepared a pretty good list, a few equally important points have been missed.

After reading this post, I too will be following with what Google said, addressing users’ security concerns. What about you?
