One Domain, One Hosting Package

The other day, my server was suspended by my host AGAIN. This really stresses me out. According to my host, the reason that my account was suspended was because of CGI/PHP overload. I have no idea what this means except that it’s taking too much resources and they have to suspend my server.

Well, it’s all right if they allow me to login to do some troubleshooting but I could only access my server after almost one day! Truly, I try not to let downtime like this affect me but the longer I wait, the more worried I become because I can’t access any of my blogs or websites even though only one of the sites was causing the overload.

Since then, I have been looking at separating all my sites into different hosting packages so that when one server is suspended, the rest of my online properties will not be affected. I’ve just been shown this myhosting coupon that gives me free basic hosting for three months. It’s a long enough time to try out a service and if I like it, I can then continue with the service and pay for it, of course.

Right now, I am busy comparing hosting packages from the many My Hosting coupons available, racing against time in case my hosting account gets suspended yet again.

Google Smart Labels

Google unveiled yet another new feature in Gmail called “Smart Labels” which has to be enabled through Google Labs. This feature aims to help users label their email and sort them out according to groups. Those messages from mailing lists, if labeled so, by pass the inbox but will arrive in the All Mail list instead. On the other hand, mails that come from forums or something similar, when labeled accordingly, will arrive at the inbox.

According to Google, people who use this feature will save 15% of time going though their email messages. That’s a lot of time saved, actually. But personally, I prefer to see all my mail at once without opening different folders. I read most mail on the phone and it actually saves time just looking at the title of the email messages and decide there and then which to delete, which to read, which needs replaying, which starred and/or labeled.

Looking For An Experienced Personal Injury Attorney

My cousin brother, who works as a manager at a night club, was recently injured in a fight. Well, the customers were fighting and he went between them to try to break them up. It’s too bad that he was injured. I read about a similar case in the papers recently and the Good Samaritan was killed! I guess my cousin is lucky to be “just” injured.

We are trying to help him engage an experienced personal injury attorney but it’s not easy. We don’t have any contacts previously. I do know of an Austin personal injury attorney who is with O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath. Unfortunately, my cousin does not live in Texas.

O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath specializes in personal injury and auto accident cases. They provide free initial consultation and their attorneys are able to meet with their clients at the place and time convenient to their clients. I find this personal touch most endearing. It’s not about business but “people first”.

Windows Live Spaces Closing On 16th March, 2011

Since the beginning of March, I have received two notices from Microsoft that they are shutting down Windows Live Spaces. Actually, this decision was made months ago but before we know it, D Day is almost here.

Although I do not have a Windows Live Spaces account, which is Microsoft’s free blogging/photo sharing service, I have reminded a few of my friends whom I know keep, or used to keep Windows Live Spaces blogs. Windows Live Spaces may not be flexible or customizable, there were still some people who liked using it.

Too bad, now they have the problem of having to deal with migrating their content. I know that Microsoft has made arrangements for content to be easily ported to free WordPress blogs but WordPress free blogging service may not be everyone’s top choice.

I’m quite afraid. I use many free web-based services and frankly, we don’t even know when we will one day receive a cease of service notice!

Easy Fast Cheap Online Traffic School

A friend just told me that she drives 120km to work and takes the same distance after work to get home. That’s pretty amazing, I think. I wouldn’t have the dedication to commute that far to report for work everyday! My friend thinks that it’s pretty therapeutic but I think that I would be too tensed up to relax as I stay alert looking out for the large fast cars which are driven at an average speed of 140 to 160kph!

Also, I tend to think that the longer we are on the road, the better the chance for us to pick up a ticket. I wouldn’t mind if all we need to do is take a short course at a traffic school to reverse our traffic points that we have accumulated, which luckily could be done online, but unfortunately, this isn’t available where I live.

I like it that in the United States, we can take Defensive Driving cheaply online at our own convenience. Best of all, it’s free until we decide to sit for the test. So this means that we don’t have to waste money and time repeating the quiz at the end of the test until we are really confident of passing!

However, for those who still are not able to get through the final hurdle, Easy Fast Cheap Online Traffic School will not accept further payment for repeating the quiz.

iPad 2 Unveiled

Apple’s iPad 2 is finally unveiled and it will ship in the United States on 11th March while 26 other countries will only be getting their hands on the iPad 2 on 25th March. Right now, I don’t know when the iPad 2 will be launched in Malaysia but I hope that it would be one of the first countries to get it!

The iPad 2 sports vast improvements from the original iPad. While I do not own an iPad, I have played it often enough as I have a friend who owns it. I’ve thought that the iPad was a little too thick and heavy and I couldn’t hold it for long, one or both hands. The iPad 2 is one third the thickness of the iPad one and it is 0.2 pounds lighter.

iPad 2 is also said to be significantly faster and the huge difference between the original iPad and iPad 2 is the camera. iPad 2 has video calling capabilities. However, there is no mention that flash is still not supported by iPad 2. Maybe Skyfire will fix that.

Can’t wait to see how much iPad 2 will be selling in Malaysia.

Gmail Accidentally Resets Accounts

This morning, I was greeted with the news with Gmail has accidentally reset a number of email accounts. According to reports, the number of affected accounts goes as high as 500,000 but Gmail folks say that it’s only 0.29% of its user base.

Whatever the number of affected accounts, this shouldn’t have happened at all. A few short weeks ago, Microsoft’s Hotmail had the same issue and users were faced with a blank Hotmail account like one would see if one just set up a new Hotmail account, including the Welcome email.

When that happened, even though I was not affected and even though Hotmail subsequently restored everyone’s email after a few days, I backed up my email to Gmail, thinking that it’s safer. Now, it looks like even cloud storage that Gmail purportedly uses isn’t safe as well.
