The Good Food Guide

Before I visit a new city, I will always try to read up on food reviews and guides first so that I will know just where to head to for my meals. I don’t believe in wasting time searching and prefer to visit eateries that come highly recommended by food experts who have taken the time to review the many restaurants available around the world. You could say that I am not adventurous when it comes to food

Since I am planning a trip to Boston at the end of this year, I am already reading up on Boston restaurants. There are many types of food that I could choose from. I am happy that I have a reliable Boston restaurant guide to depend on. I definitely do not have time to go to every diner to try out their food. I just want to go to the “best”, you see.

I am surprised that Chinese restaurants Boston are pretty popular. I am Chinese so I definitely want to try out Chinese food in other cities to check out how authentic they are! Will they taste like the Chinese food that I am used to? Probably not but I am ready to try!

I have also taken note of a Mexican Restaurant in Boston that I would like to check out when I am there. When in Boston, I could also eat Mexican, can’t I?

Hotmail’s 5 New Features

Since its first launch in 1995, Hotmail has remained one of the largest free web-based email services with 360 million users every month, and nine billion emails received and 300 million emails sent daily by users.

In conjunction with its fifteenth anniversary, Microsoft has rolled out five new features for Hotmail and they are:

*Smart newsletter filtering
*Categories and advanced folder management
*Scheduled cleanup
*Priority messages
*Instant one-click delete, flag, sweep messages

With these features in place, Hotmail would reduce the amount of spam from almost 35% currently to less than 3% of a user’s inbox.

Thanks to vast improvements in areas like spam filtering, performance, storage and mobile platform compatibility, users will see Hotmail working between ten to twenty times faster than last year. Users would also be able to receive two-way sync with email, calendar and contacts on all major smart phone platforms.

China Web Population Exceeds 500 million

Xinhua news agency has reported that China’s online population has exceeded half a billion users, the largest in the world. Since the last official survey in July this year, an additional 15 million people had joined the online bandwagon.

The Great Firewall of China still exists but that doesn’t stop people from using the internet. Microblogging is extremely popular in China. The country now has more than 300 million microbloggers, utilising sites like Weibo.

Google Celebrates 13th Birthday

My, has it been “only” 13 years? In internet speak, that is a loooong time, though. Many dotcoms have already come and gone within this time frame. I still sort of remember the early days when Google was just starting to make its name on the web. There’s no denying, though, that the company has grown tremendously over this relatively short period of time.

To celebrate the occasion, Google has this doodle logo on their homepage. HHmmm not nice. Dull colours and the word Google is half hidden. Wasted.

Facebook Has A New Layout, AGAIN

Facebook rolled out a new layout and it looks way too cluttered than most of us like our newsfeed to be. The thumbnail images of photo albums are larger, no doubt but then when people upload spam photos to Facebook, you’d just be getting more spam on your newsfeed!

Do you know, even before this new layout, I already have not even visited my newsfeed for months aolready. I do go to Facebook but only visit my own profile, wall and play the occasional Facebook games. I find that I don’t even care what my friends are posting on their statuses anymore. It’s usually something mundane about their life, their grouses and rants. I have enough problems of my own…

So anyway, I don’t care one way or the other how Facebook has changed the way newsfeed is presented to us!

Facebook To Delay IPO Until Late 2012

Mark Zuckerberg has decided that he would like to postpone the IPO of Facebook until late 2012, delaying one of the “biggest IPOs in history”. Investors had hoped to cash in on their profits once Facebook is listed. Mark says that he hopes that employees can stay focused on product developments right now and not on pay-out yet.

Me thinks that by then, value of Facebook could drop and not be as high as currently, judging from the swiftness web users move. By then, most of us would have been spending our online time somewhere else already. Don’t you agree?

Valid Web Hosting Discount Codes

As a full time blogger, many of my friends ask me how I put food on the table. It is not easy, obviously, but as a single person, my expenses are low. The advantage is that I get to do what I like. Moreover, time flexibility is something that money cannot buy.

I run a lot of blogs and websites so I spend a lot on domain names and web hosting renewals. As I earn less now, I try to reduce the money I pay on running these web properties. That’s why I keep looking out for domain and web hosting discounts.

WorldHostings.com has a comprehensive page listing coupon codes and promotions of major web hosting companies, displaying their latest discounts. This saves us plenty of time because we don’t have to go to each individual website to read about their packages, check their features and prices and then search for valid coupon codes.

WorldHostings.com lists over thirty major web hosting companies. From this single page, you can see the latest promo codes. Most importantly, they are valid. You know how frustrating it is to discover a discount code only to find out that it has expired? WorldHostings.com has eliminated these problems for users.
