Server Changed

May 18, 2008 – 2:49 am

With a sigh of relief, I am so glad to announce that my blogs have finally moved successfully to a new server. Of course, I did not do the unenviable task of moving files from multiple domains. The server admin did that but then I was still nervous incase something wrong happens and I have missing files or broken images and lost post that I could not retrieve or restore.

So far, everything seems fine and besides the fact that I lost four posts, which were published during the move, and which I easily republished because I saved a copy of these posts on my computer, just in case, everything else is in tact.

I know I should have gotten this move done a long time ago instead of keeping quiet and bearing the long hours of server downtime but then I thought that it would be a complex process and I thought that I would be the one to do it. Luckily I did not have to do it. I may be finally comfortable with WordPress and such but moving files is certainly still beyond me. At least I am not comfortable with it!

Anyway, now that everything seems to be settled, I can finally concentrate on updating my blogs again. Hhmm all the daily server down time of up to twelve hours was not doing my traffic good. My number plummeted so drastically you don’t want to know. It’s time to rebuild that, or at least attempt to!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I would love to receive your comments! If you wish to be updated on new content, do subscribe to my RSS feed on your feed reader or via email. Thanks for visiting!

  2. Congrats on a smooth transition. I was not as smart as you…when I had my site upgraded to a new version of the content management system - I lost a half dozen blog entries that I did created with out having copies of the posts.

  3. This is one of the benefits of using blogger; there is no need for having your own servers. Of course there are some drawbacks but I\’ve always found WP and servers difficult to get the hang of.
